Have you practised Iyengar yoga for few months and wish to deepen your understanding of twists? This workshop is a perfect opportunity!

It is through the alignment of the body that I discovered the alignment of my mind, self and intelligence” – B.K.S. Iyengar. Light on Life.

The turning or twisting of the spine along with the abdomen in any asana is called Parivrtta Kriya. Twists create mobility in the spine by giving lateral rotational movement, these poses are essential for everyone since they delay aging of the muscles of the spine and back. Twist poses are for the healthy spine.

You can expect a dynamic and active workshop where you will learn:

  • the necessary actions and arrows of movement to perform the twists
  • the concept of lateral extensions of the spine to give it freedom for rotation
  • correct actions that can bring the body in alignment physically and energetically, through various clear demonstrations

There will be lots of explanation, individual alignment approach for each student and simple breath awareness at the end.

I used to think that practice of yoga makes the body strong and flexible but since I am in Iyengar yoga system it made my thoughts towards yoga very different. Iyengar yoga in every pose is actually Mediation in action .it is journey of discovery within you. Self realization, which is the ultimate aim of yoga. I personally feel with the practice of yoga makes one very focused and calm. It creates a invisible kind of aura around you that you are ready to face any challenge in life. Thanks to B.K.S Iyengar who brought the yoga with Props that everybody can get precise alignment while they are in pose by using the props.
